About Alexus McLeod

I am Professor in the department of Religious Studies at Indiana University Bloomington, with expertise in the areas of Chinese Philosophy, Mesoamerican Philosophy, Africana Philosophy, History of Science and Medicine, and Martial Arts Thought.

I’ve currently published 11 books in these areas, about which you can read more here, as well as numerous journal articles and book chapters.

I have also practiced martial arts for over 20 years, and am head instructor at Excel Taekwondo in Bloomington, Indiana.

My research centers on a cross-section of global metaphysics, worldviews, and practices, and I am interested in big-picture questions of how humans find meaning and identity in ideas and practices. I consider myself a philosophical explorer—I often look to the frontiers and to systems of thought that are neglected, under explored, or undiscovered by philosophers.

You can access my departmental homepage here.
